How to Use Our Classifieds
Posting- Both members and nonmembers may post and respond to ads for boats or equipment, including if it is free. We only ask that you remove your ad when the item is sold. To post an ad you must have an account, which for non-members can be created by clicking CONTACT and following the instructions at the bottom of the page. Next, sign into your account, and return to this page.
The Moorings section is for complete mooring tackle only: Dor-Mor, chain, swiels, shackles, pendants, ball, etc. Please indicate the size of the Dor-Mor, chain and pendants in your listing, the LOA and weight of the boat that sat on this mooring, and comments on the condition of the chain and pendants, or if any critical elements are missing or known to need replacement. Finally, please indicate if the mooring is in the water (and the location) or on the hard at the club.
Warning - members with Boats or Equipment have been targeted by scammers. If it sounds too good to be true (e.g. buying your boat unseen), it's probably not true.
- Uploads- If you are selling a boat that is in the database, note that for privacy reasons, any of the pictures or files you added as part of your boat record are not automatically transferred to the classified ad so they will have to be added again.
- Price- If you leave this blank, the system will advertise the boat or item as 'FREE'. Many members prefer to offer discounts to fellow members, or they expect to negotiate the price. So best practice is to enter your maximum price, but in the description add wording to indicate the prices is negotiable, best offer, price preference for club members, or something along those lines.
- Contact details, phone and email- This information is optional and is not mandatory. The classified ad presentation screen includes a contact form with the Captcha protection that when filled out and sent, will automatically be forwarded to you, and you should consider this the first point of communications on the sale. Classified Ads are accessible by the public and not just people who are signed in so the contact details you enter run the risk of being screen scraped by nefarious web bots. In contrast to this, all club member and contact data is behind the login wall, secure, and only available to members, so it can not be scraped.
After Sale- Please remove the boat from the classifieds or indicate it as sold. If a member sells the boat to another member, we would suggest that you use the Ownership tab on the boat record to indicate who the new owner is. This will allow all of the boat history to follow the boat to the next owner.
The system administrators reserve the right to remove adds that are old, are not related to sailing, or are inappropriate.
