Learn to Sail - Easily, Quickly, and Safely

Our popular Learn to Sail program utilizes our modern fleet of club-owned Ideal 18 sailboats, an 18-foot keelboat designed by Bruce Kirby, the designer of the Laser and the Sonar. The Ideal 18, was designed with safety, simplicity, comfort, and performance in mind and is a joy to sail. Guided by our Director of Sailing, participants begin with beginner classroom sessions followed by on-the-water instruction and can even race in our popular Sunday racing series or one of our many regattas. Come Crew With Us - For Some Serious Fun

One of the best ways to enjoy the thrill of sailboat racing is to become a crew member on one of our boats—and you don’t have to be a Nyack Boat Club member. Every week, skippers on many of our boats are looking for sailors both new and experienced to join them on the Hudson River. If you’d like to give it a try, we’d love to have you aboard! Simply create a non-member account by visiting signup. Once logged in, you can visit the Crew Finder, and input your availability. The Joy of One-Design Racing

The Nyack Boat Club has one of the most vibrant racing programs in the tri-state area. Our one-design fleets run active racing programs from May through October. In addition to regular Sunday racing programs, we organize and manage a number of regattas each season. The enthusiastic Race Committee members oversee a very competitive racing program in 1-, 2- ,3-, and 4-person one-design classes. Our centerboard fleet consists of Lasers, Thistles, and Lightnings, while our keelboat fleets include Ideal 18s, Ensigns, and Sonars. Join the fun! Cruise Into Your Future

The Nyack Boat Club is home to many different sailing fleets, but the largest and, some might argue the most social, is the Cruising Fleet, with boats of all types and sizes. In addition to social events held at the club, several times each season the Cruising Fleet organizes group cruises, meets, and raft-ups on the Hudson River, the Long Island Sound, and New York Harbor. We also actively race on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. There are many opportunities to socialize, share the sailing experience, and make new and life-long friends. Come join the fun!
