This season, Opening Day takes place on Saturday, May 9th, beginning at 10am. Registration will begin shortly. • The Famous Sail Past Parade and Blessing of the Fleet, performed by our very own Father Richard Gressle
  • All About RC Sailing
  • The Spinnaker Bar (cash bar opens at 2pm)
  • The Opening Day Ceremony
  • And the Annual Officer's Barbecue

Welcome Desk

10am to 4pm

  • On your way in, stop by the Welcome Desk on the balcony, just outside the south side of the clubhouse, right alongside the walkway. Please check in and show your registration receipt at that time.

Our Pirate Flea Market

10am - 3pm (9am set up)

Members, here's your chance to clear out your useful, yet unwanted sailing related items at our Opening Day Pirate Flea Market. The market will be set up on the lawn, alongside the wood fence. You are invited to bring your clearly tagged, priced and identified items for sale or trade and well give you a receipt describing the consignment. From that receipt, we can keep track of sales and money to make your reimbursement during the day and no later than 3:00. If you are planning to trade, you must be present to make and complete your own transaction. We will not trade on your behalf. The Ship's Store table may be set up nearby. However, we are not responsible for the Ships Store table. Our flea market tables will be supervised during the day. At 3:00, the flea market will be packed up and tables stowed to make room for the Opening Day Ceremony that begins at 4:00, followed by the Officer's Barbecue. At 3:00, please pick up your cash bounty and/or remove your remaining materials. We are not responsible for remaining, unclaimed items. Enjoy the day!

The 2026 Sail Past Parade & Blessing of the Fleet

11:30am to 2pm

Join us as we sail past and receive a salute as our Club Officers receive members and their guests on station at the Touch & Go. We will begin assembling the Sail Past Parade at 11:30. The parade will commence at about 12:30, under your choice of power or sail.

  • We'll assemble participating skippers on the pier at about 11am to review plans, boats, skipper and guest names, so we are all aware of what to expect.
  • Members who participate will be ID'd on the water by sail number. We will instruct participants to begin assembling on the water at about 11:30, either to the north or south of the mooring area, depending on wind & tide conditions.
  • Club officers will assemble on station at the Touch & Go at 12:00 noon to prepare to receive members and guests.
  • At 12:30, the parade will commence. Again, participating vessels will sail or motor past the Touch & Go and make your salute.
  • We will begin calling sail numbers (from those assembled on the water) based on their visual proximity to the pier and we will direct traffic on VHF Channel 78. Passing boats can wave their mains or offer any gesture of good will and camaraderie. Officers can offer a salute or toast with any appropriate cocktail.
  • As each boat is called to approach, we will immediately hail the next boat to tee up in an effort to keep moving the parade along, so please stay tuned to your VHF Channel 78.
  • As boats pass the Touch & Go each boat & attendee(s) will be announced. Hopefully, our NBC Committee boat will lead off the parade and our NBC Race Patrol will close.

Remote Control Sailboating

1pm - 2pm

We will set up a table on the grass and Al Gordon will bring his RC boat and discuss how it works and explain that a group has weekly racing on a nearby lake. We are hoping to get more people interested in joining this group. According to those who participate in this activity, it is a great way to learn about racing rules and tactics. We encourage all  members who own a Remote Control Sailboat to also bring their boat and join in this activity.

The Opening Day Ceremony

 4pm - 5pm

Just off the flagpole & yardarm well gather on the patio and balcony as our past commodores and current flag officers start the Opening DayCeremonies. RC/P Ali Seckin will be conducting the ceremony and raising of our club & officer flags, and the American flag, culminating with the signal that will officially open the club for the 2026 season.

The Annual Officers Barbecue (Must register)

5pm and on

Served by our past and current Flag Officers, this is a fun-filled annual event that I can remember for the past 35 years. The Spinnaker Bar will be open with drinks for adults and soft drinks for kids. Barbecue registrations will be handled online and we will know how many people are registered. You'll receive your tickets online and can show them in print or on your phone on the barbecue line.

Enjoy the festivities and have fun. Once again, please keep an eye on your inbox and spam folder for the link to register and simply follow the instructions.
