Bulletin: 2025 Ideal 18 Program Enrollment Update -- filling fast
As of March 5th, Nyack Boat Club's Ideal 18 Program is pausing placing new Ideal 18 fleet members for 2025, as we review and adjust our staffing and the capacity of our 2025 learn-to-sail sessions. As we open up more places before the start of the sailing season in May, we will offer preferred placement to new Provisional Members (permanent members) and then offer any remaining openings to applicants for Ideal 18 seasonal membership.
If you want to sail with us in 2025, take the following steps:
- Reach out to Ideal 18 admissions. Start an application (for Ideal Seasonal or Provisional Membership); you won't have to commit until we can guarantee you placement.
- Even if we can't place you in the Ideal 18 program in 2025, don't despair! Become a seasonal member participating in our Sunset Sailing program and take some private lessons on an Ideal 18*, or find a crew position with a Club member (create an account and add your name to the Crew Finder).
Come visit in March or April to learn more and speak with us about your options.
* In 2025 and Ideal 18 Seasonal membership costs $2,200. Alternatively, join as a Sunset Sailing Seasonal member for $500 (8 Thursdays sailing on larger cruising boats), and spend $1,000 on ten 2-hour lessons (one-on-one with an instructor) in an Ideal 18. Note, private lessons are generally scheduled during the day (before 4 pm) on weekdays and depend on instructor availability.
