Kayak Safety Orientation for Members

Nyack Boat Club offers all members access to club-owned kayaks (Kayaks). To use Kayaks, a member must complete a Kayak Safety Orientation. Once Kayak "certified", members may reserve a Kayak by logging into their club account to Book Online (navigation bar on the home page) -- we mark your account as certified to gain access to the Kayak booking feature.
Here are the steps to complete the Kayak Safety Orientation and become certified:
- Read and understand the Kayak Use Terms & Conditions; about 5 minutes.
- View the Kayak Safety Orientation videos listed below (about 40 minutes at normal speed, but you can playback at a higher speed (1.5-1.75) to save time). You must watch the videos to find out the location of the Kayaks, the Kayak equipment locker, and recommendations on moving and launching the Kayaks, in addition to a review of the rules and recommendations for Kayak us.
Overview of Program and Rules (Kayak Intro); about 20 minutes.
The Boats: Handling on Land (Kayak Boats); about 20 minutes.
- Successfully complete the Kayak Safety Orientation Assessment; about 5 to 15 minutes.
When you've successfully completed the Assessment, please email us at the address below to let us know you're ready to be certified.
