RS Zests Safety Orientation and Information

Nyack Boat Club offers all members access to club-owned RS Zest sailing dinghies (Zests). To use Zests, a member must complete a Zest Safety Orientation. Once Zest "approved", members may reserve a Zest by logging into their club account to Book Online (navigation bar on the home page) -- we mark your member account as approved to permit you access to the Zest booking feature.
Here are the steps to complete the Zest Safety Orientation and become approved:
- Read and understand the RS Zest Use Terms & Conditions; about 5 minutes.
- Review the RS Zest Instructions and Videos: depending on your dinghy sailing experience, spend some time on learning about dinghy sailing capsize, etc.
- View the Zest Safety Orientation videos listed below (about 45 minutes at normal speed, but you can playback at a higher speed (1.25) to save time). You must watch the videos to find out the location of the Zests, the Zests equipment locker, and information on rigging, launching, sailing and stowing the Zests, in addition to a review of the rules and recommendations for Zests use.
- Overview of Zest Program and Rules; about 15 minutes
- The Boats: Zest Rigging Handling, Launching, Stowing; about 30 minutes
- Successfully complete the NBC Zest Safety Orientation Assessment(about 20 minutes) and the Dinghy Experience Questionnaire (5 minutes). When you've successfully completed the Assessment and the Questionnaire, please email us at the address below to let us know you're ready to be Zest-approved.
